For Year 3 of the HVIP, the California Air Resources Board (ARB) has provided $10 million in additional voucher funding, aimed at accelerating the California deployment of new hybrid and zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles throughout the state. The HVIP provides vouchers of $8,000 to $65,000 on a first-come, first-served basis for the purchase of each eligible new hybrid or electric truck or bus.
The program is open to all dealers who sell hybrid and zero-emission medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks or buses in the state of California and all fleets who operate in the state.
Dealers who wish to participate in the program must complete the HVIP dealer training to learn and understand the program terms and conditions as well as roles and responsibilities of other stakeholders, such as fleets, ARB, and CALSTART. The dealer training process is explained below.
Becoming an HVIP-certified Dealer
- HVIP Overview
Dealers who wish to participate in the HVIP will need to take the HVIP dealer training to become certified for the program. To do so, please download and review the HVIP Overview and the Year 3 HVIP Implementation Manual. After reviewing these two documents, please click on the link at the bottom of this page to take the HVIP dealer eligibility test. Upon passing the test, you will receive an automatic notification from the HVIP Team with instructions on how to finish your registration.
- Voucher Management
Once you've become certified, you will need to learn how to submit and process vouchers. To do so, please review the Voucher Management Presentation. This will guide you on the process and answer the majority of your questions.
