Manufacture hybrid trucks or buses

Hybrid medium- and heavy-duty vehicles that are ARB-certified are automatically eligible for HVIP voucher funding, provided they meet all other applicable program requirements. Note this is hybrid vehicle certification, not heavy-engine certification. The vehicle must be ARB certified.

Vehicles listed by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as eligible for a federal tax credit pursuant to the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
The current IRS list of Qualified Heavy Hybrid Vehicles is found at: www.irs.gov/businesses/article/0,,id=175456,00.html. For these vehicles additional exhaust temperature profile data must also be submitted to the ARB. Only vehicles which can demonstrate that the vehicle hybrid platform, engine, and after-treatment devices will continue to function as required and that the vehicle’s air quality benefits are achieved will be approved for HVIP funding eligibility.
